Uncover Beautiful Skin with Chemical Peels
At Svetlana’s Skin Secrets specific chemical peels are recommended base on your specific skin assessment.
Glycolic Acid Peel
Derived from sugar cane, this mild peel resurfaces just the surface of the skin. Perfect for fine line and wrinkles, oily and acne prone skin. Because glycolic acid peels are rather light, a series of peels may be recommended in 2 weeks intervals. After the treatment, you can expect your skin to be pink and shiny for a few days, it may also peel slightly.
Salicylic Acid Peel (beta-hydroxy peel)
Helps to remove buildup and promotes increased cell turnover leaving the skin refined and rejuvenated. Great for Acne and Acne Scars, best for fighting blackheads, whiteheads, clogged pores, uneven skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles. Salicylic peels have effects limited to the epidermis because the acid does not penetrate deep within the skin. Post-peel, your skin may be red, flaky, itchy and even shiny for the first few days. You should always use sunscreen with a high SPF after a beta-hydroxy peel, since it increases sun sensitivity.
Lactic Acid Peel
Derived from sour milk, this peel offers a subtle lightening effect. If your skin is sensitive or if you suffer from a condition like rosacea, Lactic acid is your choice.
Deep Chemical Peel
This type of peel has been replaced by laser technology (laser peel) to avoid pigment loss and painful healing.
How Chemical Peels Work
In a chemical peel, a chemical solution is applied to the skin and allowed to soak in. You may experience some temporary burning, itching, stinging or warm flushing. This will fade within 5-10 minutes. During the next few hours you may experience some tightening of the skin, which may last for several days. The peeling process usually subsides within 2-3 days.
Following a chemical peel we recommend: using a strong moisturizer with hyaloronic acid, sun block at least SPF30, resume any product with Retin-A.
Peels are done in a series of 6, each one 2-4 weeks apart. Maintenance ideally is once a month if possible.
